So, through some random talent search, I ended up taking the ACT during middle school... woo. My score from 8th grade is actually pretty decent: a 33, though if I took it now I could probably do better. However, taking it again requires two things: getting up early on a valuable Saturday morning, and paying the ACT money; both of which I don't really feel like doing (it's not that I'm lazy... I just have better things I could use the money for [aka the SAT ;___; ]).

I read somewhere that you can use middle school scores, as the ACT saves them (I checked my account yesterday; they're still there). Would it be a good idea to do so?

Wow, receiving a 33 period is quite an accomplishment, especially in 8th grade. Really, your 8th grade score is perfectly fine, and you don’t have to take it again. But, you’re probably right that you can do better seeing as you’re older now. I would say take it one more time, but just go into the test knowing that you already have a 33 and this is to only see if you can do better. If you end up doing the same or worse, don’t worry about it and simply use your 33 for admissions.

I don’t know if it’s the same with the ACT, but CollegeBoard actually removes records of tests that you have taken prior to 9th grade, so it might be a little troublesome to reactivate that score (be prepared to bring out any paper records that you have).

I think NOT retaking the ACT while in high school might raise a red flag in your college applications. One would assume that you should be able to improve on the 33 you obtained in middle school if the result wasn’t just freakish good luck – which naturally would beg the question “Why didn’t you try?”

Yeah. I encourage you to retake it since you will most like get a 35-36 on it after 3 years in high school. I got a 28 (i know it sucks) in 8th grade and dramatically improved it last month. :)

Besides, a 33 or potential 36 could make or break a college acceptance decision.

Lol, I got an 18 on the ACT in 8th grade and I ended up getting a 35 during junior year, so you could definitely get a 35-36 now since you made a 33 back then.
