Can somebody chance me at the University of Michigan - Engineering? I already applied EA...

Hola CC! It would be great if you guys could chance me at my dream school. At the moment, I am freaking out because of my “why UMich” essay. I had so much to say but i couldn’t put it down into words in enough time, so I am preparing for the HAIL interview, hopefully to show my interest!

Your GPA is low for CoE (admission average 3.9+) while your SAT is near admission average (ACT below mid 50). For OOS, it will be a reach for you.

But does it favor my application if I took rigorous courses and got high B’s in them? I heard that schools prefer HS students to challenge themselves and a B in an AP class is much more preferred than an A in an honors or on level class

i also got a 23/24 on the SAT essay and UMich requires the essay scores…

According to the U of M Common Data Set, academic GPA and secondary school rigor are “very important” factors considered for admission; standardized test scores are an “important” admission factor.

So you are average in an “important” admissions factor (standardized tests), low in a “very important” admissions factor (GPA), and probably good in a “very important” admissions factor (rigor). Not much evidence of leadership in your ECs.

I agree with the assessment that you are a reach as an OOS applicant.

Yes, they want students with high rigor curriculum, but with a high GPA at the same time.

They also do a holistic process. So do you have any hooks? First-gen, low-income etc. GPA’s a bit low. Reach
