Can someone chance me for Columbia Creative Writing:Introductory Session?

Hey guys; I just applied and I'm anxious to see whether or not I have a good chance of being accepted. I'm going to outline my stats and would you mind telling me what you think?

GPA:
9th + 10th - 90.5
11th- I enrolled in the IB program, my average rose to about a 107-8 (weighted), 97-8 (unweighted).

My rec letters are, in my opinion, really good. They show my passion for creative writing, my ability to share my thoughts, and my political awareness.

My essay also shows my passion. I also think it's really good. I discuss my longing for a collegiate life and some of my political views, which are liberal (plus for Columbia?).

The writing sample I used was the creative piece I made for my IB Informal English Oral. I got a 28/30, those of you who are familiar with the IB program know it is pretty hard to get. I'm extremely proud of it and I think it shows I can write.

Also, I know this is relevant: I did not apply until yesterday, which was only a couple of days before the deadline (apr. 4th).

I know that these stats may not matter that much, that their motives for this program are financial, to a certain extent, but I'm just curious what everyone thinks.

Thank you for the help.

It's really not hard to get into intro. Advanced is much harder to get into, so don't worry about it.

You're definitely in.

Hello,
I am a rising sophmore at an elite college prep. high school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I have a great passion for writing. Although I was a freshman this past year, I have been a large contributor to my school's newspaper. Columbia is a fantastic university and a summer program there sounds awesome. Can anyone provide (general) details about the program and its prerequisites (spelling?)? What is needed for this program? Do they accept rising sophmores? Do students stay in dorms? How long are the sessions/ what are the dates?
Thanks so much,
Matt

Great. Thanks for the response. I can't wait to get that letter!

gibbs, as for the Columbia program, most of the information is available on their website, www.ce.columbia.edu/hs/ . Unfortunately, the deadline for the program on Columbia's campus has passed. Yes, I believe they accept rising sophomores and provide dorms. Sessions are 3.5 wks, I think. The link really has everything you need.
