My daughter will be looking at Univ of Cincinnati Department of Art, Architecture and Design for its graphic and new media programs. Does anyone have any experience with these programs in which you can comment about the programs, faculity, and internship opportunities?

I am currently enrolled in UC's Interior Design program in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. The curriculum is fast-paced, challenging, stressful, and takes all of my time. It does not sound very enticing, but it really does prepare students for their future. Expect about 30 hours of class a week and about 45 hours of outside work, more at midterms and finals. Professors are usually very experienced in the fields they are teaching and have a lot of suggestions and criticism. They are not afraid to tell you when your work is not up to par. The co-op program is amazing. I have been through 2 quarters of co-op and loved every second of it. Students from DAAP have an advantage over those from others schools without the co-op program because we really know what we are doing and are ready for our first job out of college. A lot of students do not make it out of DAAP. It is hard to see your friends going out and having fun and you being stuck in all week and weekend to prepare drawings and presentations. DAAP has taught me time management and dedication over anything else.
