Can someone confirm this for me?

Okay, I realize that having your own blog can be seen as a creative extra curricular, (a blog that has a good purpose), but I've also been reading that having your own album for photos/artwork/graphics/videos is another good one to include in your app? I have a very large album of my graphical work that I've owned for several years that includes my really poor work, to my really amazing contest winning graphics. There Is about 300+ graphics in them, and the majority are things like signatures,(those of you who browse other forums know what I am talking about) banners, photo editing, etc. (Most are really advanced.)

So, should I include this in my extracurricular section, or is it worthless?

I suggest you EDIT and include a link to an album of 10 of your best.

But wouldn’t it be better to show them my long term commitment s d the improvements I made, and create a sub album named: “top graphics”?

I agree with sunnyflorida. You will get a small amount of their time if they choose to look at your blog (think 20k plus applicants at many schools). You want them to look at your BEST work only, and not filter through others that are excellent, however not exceptional. Think of this as a portfolio. Sending more does not increase your chances. Watering down the quality of what they look at may.

I would investigate putting the images up on a closed link (ie, not a forum). If they associate the site with any work they find objectionable it may reflect poorly on you. There are some that run the gammut, from really cool creative stuff to pretty seedy. I’m all for freedom of expression, but I wouldn’t let it cloud my college application with a message that wasn’t mine.

I know some schools say they won’t look at blogs…
Is it possible to cull a portfolio and submit this as an art supplement. I know it’s unconventional “art” but if you include like a little personal statement about it I think they might look at it more favorably/seriously. However, they also might send it off to the art dept for an evaluation–not sure if you want that.
