To the Satisfactory Academic Progress Committee:
I understand I am under review for academic suspension for not meeting the academic standards. I am taking this time to attempt an appeal for the allowance of continuing next semester on probation. In this letter, I will discuss how I plan to increase my academic performance for future terms.
In the beginning of this semester as I sat down to meet with my advisor XXXXXXXX for the first time, it was brought to my attention that the math course I had taken in the fall of 2013 would affect my completion rate. I was not able to continue my composition class as for this semester as I could not meet the requirements of the writing lab portion. I have limitations to when I can be at school. Due to withdrawing from this course I was put below the 67% requirement for completion rate.
XXXX and I sat down and created an academic plan which I have attached a copy to this letter. My plan for withdrawing from composition was to take the course next semester where I would be able to receive all credits online without the requirement of the on-campus writing lab portion. I had hope with good grades in my other classes I would be able to appeal the suspension that I had foreseen coming.
Unfortunately, I did not pass my Anthropology course. I take full responsibility for my poor grade. I did not expect the course to be as difficult as it had been being that it was a 5-week course. I found myself not being able to pace myself well which reflected negatively on my grades. I have already registered to repeat the course for spring 2017 semester at a normal pace class. I will do better next semester in this class. I know what will be on the course and I will not be doing the fast track version.
I ask that you take my appeal into consideration. I am not attending college lightly. I am here to further my education and create a better future for my child that I will be having in February. I can assure you that if my appeal gets accepted, I will do my best to exceed academic standards in the future.
Sincerely,
