so im in pre-calc as a junior, i was never a kid who was good at math but i have always been able to escape with Bs in my previous math classes but pre-calc is killing me...

it's not that i am struggling understanding the concepts... i understand it fine and i feel pretty good heading in but i always get a D or C which is not acceptable by my standards...

here is my current studying plan for pre calc

the day i hear about the test i take my book home and read the lessons and go over examples..
usually ill have to switch nights of doing it due to my other homework...
then about 2 days before the test my teacher (who is a horrible teacher and certainly has her faults, but i dont believe that teachers are to blame for problems...) will tell us what is on the test and gives us a number of problems to do for review

i spend the next 2 nights doing those problems

now it might also be because i have it 1st period and im not hearing what is on it and what is not but that cant be the sole purpose...

pre calc is killing my GPA... i have 5 As 2 Bs and then the C in pre calc...

please tell me if im missing something here

thanks

First off… you’re not meant to hear what’s on a test before you take it so that’s no excuse. Most teachers actually consider that cheating.
More than just going over the examples you should try either re-doing your homework or doing problems that weren’t assigned. You can also ask your teacher for extra problems every week, not just when there is a test, and to explain to you specifically what you’re doing wrong.

Dude i was EXACTLY like that, i took precalc junior year and before that class i was always able to get B’s in math in high school. That class was such a *****, it was the class i got a C in too. I just got a ton of help from tutors and my teacher gave us study guides that had practice problems for the tests and he’d give us the solutions for the problems too. i’m guessing your teacher doesn’t do that but you can still get help from him/her or from someone who’s a math genius. Keep going over the book and do practice problems, it will pay off eventually. sorry i couldn’t be of more help lol

If you don’t have the answers for the review, you can never be 100% sure that you’re doing the problems correctly. Redo homework problems you you know the answers to first to make sure you have a solid understanding of the concepts and how to apply them.

Algebra 2 to Precalc is a pretty big jump eh? I actually was kinda different. I was always a B student in math, but I’m getting a strong A in Precalc now. Just follow my example and do your homework. I had F for homework each time in previous years, but they didn’t count much, so my A test grades pulled my grade to a B. If you do your homework, you’ll do fine.

But, if that doesn’t work, cuz it seems like you already do your homework, you could always inquire your teacher or fellow peers about certain questions that you can’t seem to figure out. REMEMBER: Looking at the solution and understanding what’s going on is VERY DIFFERENT from actually being able to solve it yourself.

Are you getting enough sleep? That killed me first semester in pre-cal, barely any sleep and I would do badly on tests. Now I get decent amount of sleep, and my grades have gone up. And you should defintely do practice problems out of the book and redo hw to prep. Good luck! :)
