Here are my credentials:

Worked with assimilated immigrants into American society with the Jewish Vocational Services program

Also, I am a first generation American in my family, so I plan to elaborate on the impact of being raised with a different cultural background in my essays.

I will have taken 4 AP and 9 Honors classes

I'm from NJ and these are the schools I'm thinking about.

NYU
U Mich
University of Wisconsin
UCLA
Lehigh
UT at Austin
Kelley at Indiana
BU
UF

also if you have any schools to recommend putting on my list that would be appreciated. I’m thinking about majoring in Economics and minoring in either Business or Finance

It’s a good thing you’re retaking the SAT. A higher score will definitely help you. I don’t know much about economics and the caliber of the programs, but based on my research so far, this is what I think.

NYU - reach
UCLA - low reach (and you’re out of state)
U Mich, University of Wisconsin, UT Austin - match
BU, Indiana, Lehigh - match/safety
UF - safety

NYU: High match
UMichigan: Reach (It’s very competitive)
UWisconsin: Match
UCLA: High match
Lehigh: Match
UT Austin: High match
Indiana: Match
BU: Match
UF: Low match/safety

UNC would also be a reach for you. It is very selective for non-residents. They have a mandatory minimum quota of 82% North Carolina residents in Freshman admissions. My son was rejected with very similar stats, and much stronger extra-curriculars. UCLA is also a reach. It is actually slightly more selective than Berkeley. The UCs cost more than $50k for out-of-state students. They will meet your family’s EFC, but usually with loans only. I’m not sure whether UF is a “low match/safety;” I think it’s probably a match, if you want to go there. Stern, at NYU, is a reach; the regular college is probably a match. I don’t think you can apply to more than one division at NYU. Pace would be an academic safety for you. May I presume that Rutgers will be a financial and/or academic safety? Pace is very expensive, but you might well qualify for a merit scholarship. They offer lots of internship opportunities in the financial field (you can walk to Wall Street). Gabelli School of Business at Fordham is also very well-respected.

NYU: Match
U Mich: Low Reach
UWisconsin: I’m not too familiar with this school, sorry
UCLA: High Match
Lehigh: Match
UT at Austin: Are you in the top tenth percentile? If so, then high match.
BU: High Match
If I skipped it, it means I don’t know enough about the university to chance it for you. I’m sorry.

@woogzmama thanks for all the information, but yeah I don’t plan on applying to UNC or UVA those schools are definitely out of my range. As far as UCLA is concerned, my family can afford to send me there without financial aid and it’s easier to get into from my school compared to Berkley. I’m not applying to Stern because I wouldn’t get in, but I have a legacy at NYU so hopefully I can get into their general campus. As I’m from NJ I do plan on applying to Rutgers as one of my few safeties and I don’t think I would go to Pace. I’ll look into the business school at Fordham. Thanks again for all the information.

NYU: low reach
UMich: low reach
UWisconsin: match
UCLA: low reach
Lehigh: match
UT-Austin: high match
Indiana: match
BU: high match
UF: low match

NYU: low reach
UMichigan: what is your unweighted gpa? They place quite a heavy emphasis on uw gpa so if your uw is not that high this might also be a high match/low reach for you.
Lehigh: high match
UT at Austin: high match/low reach (always tough for OOS students)
Kelley at Indiana: I would say you’re in especially if you qualify for direct admission into Kelley.
BU: high match, again depending on your uw.

From the looks of your ec’s and college list I would say that you’re interested in business? The internship and fbla should definitely help. Good luck!

@polypeptides you hit the nail on the head I have a passion for business. And my UW is probably around a 3.5-3.6 I haven’t had a chance to calculate that.

ok yes a 3.5-3.6 is still pretty good and I still maintain my chances but I would probably change nyu to a high match (even with your gpa just because stern is pretty competitive haha) and thanks for chancing me back!

@polypeptides no problem and I’m not applying to Stern it’s impossible to get in there from my school. I’m going to study economics there if I attend and then hopefully in school transfer to Stern if possible.

I would definetly retake your SATs come September. The rest of your application seems fine, get your grades up though! That being said:

NYU: high reach
UMich: low reach
UWisconsin: very low match
UCLA: reach
Lehigh: low match
UT-Austin: high match
Indiana: match
BU: high match
UF: safety

thanks for the responses everyone. Out of curiosity what do you guys think my chances would be with an SAT score of 2150-2200 at schools like
Vanderbilt (EA)
Emory (EA)
Northwestern (ED + Interview)

I realize Northwestern is a huge stretch, but I want to use my Early Decision on a school I know I would 10000% attend and Northwestern is that school.
