Can Someone Tell Me If This Is This True???

Hello! My school, a Catholic school, had a college fair one day, and among the colleges was St. Michael's College. I got information from them but wasn't really interested. Later on, my friend was talking to me about St Mike's. She told me that the admissions director said that if a Catholic student (me) applys/goes to a Catholic college, that student will recieve a scholarship for being Catholic. Is this true at all?? Or just for certain colleges?? Or for all?? Thanks in advance!

sorry if you get confused.

Usually, there is some kind of merit involved in receiving scholarships.
There very well may be a scholarship for Catholics, but there is probably some criteria involved as well, such as a certain GPA, SAT score, or income.
Also, you will probably be competing with several other people for the scholarship.

Hey there Meshaboo–

You’re partially correct! :)

Your friend was telling you about the [Edmundite Scholarship](http://smcvt.edu/admission/finaid/edmundite.asp).

Any student who graduates from a Catholic high school and is accepted to [Saint Michael’s College](http://smcvt.edu/) will receive a $20,000 scholarship to attend St. Mike’s (it is paid $5,000 per year). The link I just shared will go into a little more detail.

This scholarship is not based on merit at all, but is a scholarship to encourage students to continue their Catholic education at Saint Michael’s College!

If you’d like more information about this scholarship or about Saint Michael’s in general, please give us a call at 800-SMC-8000 or you can e-mail me directly at jbrown7@smcvt.edu

Take care and if you’re interested in applying to St. Mike’s, the final application deadline is a week from today! (Tues, Feb 1, 2011)

You can also get a [quick overview of the college (vids)](http://www.smcvt.edu/ilike/) as well as an [interactive virtual tour of campus](http://smcvt.edu/tour/default.asp)!

Best of luck wrapping up your senior year and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have!

SMCAdmissions, If you qualify for the Edmundite Scholarship can you also qualify for the Dean’s Scholarship based on good grades and SAT scores or can you only get one of the scholarships

Hi there,

i never got any information about any such colleges who provide scholarship for being a catholic. I heard of a institution, which provide scholarship for his name.
Zolp Family Scholarship. Forget about being a Ricky or a Alex. Only students with the last name of Zolp are eligible for this one, awarded to Catholic students at Loyola University.
Caution: Name changes don’t count.
