Everyone I see has been in lots of clubs and teams. And then I’m here just writing code in github (github.com/JuanPotato) and collaborating with others. Can I still get into MIT? I never really enjoyed clubs or competitions and just liked to bike.
Biking is definitely an EC.
Are your scores and GPA exceptional? You have to be what they are looking for since they tend to reject perfect grades and scores all of the time.
I have ~3.95 gpa weighted i think and 1470 on sat. I’d like to think that’s exceptional
They reject perfect 1600’s and perfect 4.0’s, so your EC’s also have to be exceptional as well.

And they also accept many with less than 1600’s and perfect 4.0’s.
JuanPotato:
No one here can tell you what your chances are. If you want to apply to MIT, then:
- Give it your all. Do lots of homework on what’s needed and how to assemble a strong application.
- Don’t listen to any naysayers being critical of your chances. If I listened to them, I would never have been admitted.
- Be realistic with anyone’s odds for MIT. Make sure all your “Plan B” school applications are in tiptop shape.
All the best.
