can this asian girl get into harvard?

silverturtle, I have learned this from a credited admissions individual (otherwise I would have not used the “many” word) that they do turn away many perfect scores and I do not prefer the criticism (would you have wanted me to say that the person was definitely in? Not a chance cause that isn’t true and as reported before, this person was denied for Harvard admissions last year even when she had such a great chance). I don’t believe I said anything controversial. Would you not agree with me that if I tell some asian that they reject or waitlist 65% of perfect SAT scorers (considering they are vals, have perfect ACT, APs, and whatever) that they would certainly call it the word “many”? Everyone thinks it is all about numbers but it’s not (which was my point when I mentioned “many”), except you’re going to med school lol. However, I will try to support my numerical expressions through statistics next time around if need be. =)

I consider “many” to be a deceptive descriptor when it is referring to probably around ten to fifteen people out of the 30,000 who apply. But I still agree with the point that admissions to top schools is about more than numbers.

Well of course an admissions officer will say that. It only further heightens the perceived selectivity of admissions into said school.

sorry guys
mifune pwns all

jeesh why be so critical huh? let’s face reality that perfection isn’t everything. Admissions nowadays care much about ecs and overall personality. Let’s face it…harvard is prestigious and each one of you have at one point imagined (or still imagine) being harvard alumnis. If you wanna critique me in the “many” word…then you don’t live in reality and you don’t honestly see my main point that “perfection isn’t everything”. Please get this…this isn’t like a quote for only geniuses to understand. I’ve already cleared my meaning and you folks are just trying to pick pins from a haystack at this point.

That you say this despite my having repeatedly and explicitly expressed my agreement is absurd.

Let’s assume for a moment that this is true. That still means that 35% of perfect scorers were accepted, and schools like Harvard have an admit rate of around 7% overall.

Of course a perfect score is no guarantee to any of the top schools. But it’s still an advantageous factor to have. Having a higher score will not hurt an applicant. The fact that not everyone gets in only shows that other elements of the application are put into consideration as well.

That is as obvious as saying E=mc^2.

I talked with mifune!
I know now how he looks like!

^Babe, I knew how he looked long before you did.

:)

Aren’t you reviewing what i just surmised in my last post?

and silverturtle, i thought i was addressing jersey…next time i will address the specific individual i am talking to- my fault.

Oh, I suppose I was presumptuous as well. I will offer, though, that Jersey and I tend to be in agreement when it comes to things like this.

^presumptuous is a very sexy word.

How is Jersey13 doing? I didn’t see him lately.

I assume that he is fine; he has been posting at least a few times a day I believe. Now, if I go several days without posting, be worried. :)

Agreed. It’s better than pecksniffian, anyway.

Not that I know how he is doing, but generally, I post on CC even when I am deathly ill. Hopefully, Jersey13 is not of a similar mindset.

My dear, I admire your presumptuous nature.
Why should anyone be concerned? :)

Haha, I definitely will be silverturtle.
I am curious to meet you on facebook or something!

^You’re too curious. :D

And I bet $5, right now: silverturtle doesn’t have a fb.

Warning: don’t take her up on the bet.

I know that he/she doesn’t.
I already asked :D

But maybe we can exchange photos?
HOW AWKWARD SORRY GUYS :)
