A friend and I have written essays on very similar topics. I read hers about a month or so ago, and I wrote mine in the past week. It was about how a specific poem affected us. She used hers as the CommonApp essay and I'm using mine as Chapel Hill's supplemental essay. She is applying to Chapel Hill too. Personally, I think we have very different voices. Also, its not like i paraphrased stuff she said or copied word for word her work; I barely remember what she wrote at all, considering i just skimmed it. The topic is just what intrigued me most, so I chose to write about the same thing. Is this considered "suspicious" in any way? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

I don’t know about this- I have a situation that’s kind of similar so I’ll bump you up and hopefully some people will have opinions on this…
