Can transfer student get fafsa scholarships?

Anyone has the experience? I transfer with a 4.0 gpa, but I just checked my fafsa and I got no schorlarship.

FAFSA is a loan. It’s not a scholarship. My brother got $4,000 a year for 4 years for another college. A total of $12,000 that he had to pay back. And he did. He did not have such a high GPA as you. It was all needs based. Good luck. I’ll be transferring to U of AZ. Just got accepted in mid-June. But no FAFSA ruling yet. Still waiting and wondering how I am going to do this.

I do not know about the transfer question, but FAFSA is the FORM filled out for applying for financial aid. Financial aid is need-based not merit-based so the 4.0 gpa is irrelevant. Also financial aid can consist of grants, work-study, and sometimes colleges do lump loans in there too. Grants do not have to be repaid but loans do; in that sense grants are need-based scholarships.

FAFSA is a package including grant, loan and scholarship, isn’t it? Grant and loan are need-based, but scholarship is grade-based.

@Kyraddd It is true that scholarships are almost always based on merit but not necessarily exclusively on merit. Some scholarships have need-based criteria as well. But FAFSA is the form you fill out, “financial aid” is the package you get based on the FAFSA you submit and may include scholarships. But you may qualify for merit-based scholarships even if you have no financial need.

Now if you are referring to the Awards Notice page on your MyASU account, that will include all financial aid and merit scholarships so if that doesn’t show anything, then you were not awarded either.
