Can transfers (coming in as a Junior) join a fraternity?

I don't know much about fraternities, but it might be interesting to join one if the members are amiable. However, from what I've read on this board it seems as if you have to join as a freshman or sophomore. How does it work?

you can certainly rush a fraternity, although there might be some chapters that aren't as willing to let juniors join (but I'm not sure).

Can I ask of you to please explain rushing? Or at least link me to an explanation of the process. My current school does not support fraternities at all.

I don't know much about fraternity rush and the website doesn't do a good job of explaining it...but I do know there are a couple are couple of posters on this forum are in fraternities.

I heard they were going to start up a transfer frat?

Don't join a frat if you're a junior. You certainly don't want to go through pledging (considering its a decent house) as a junior amongst basically all freshman. Also, most to all good houses wont take a junior unless many of the brothers personally know you and really really want you. Think about it, you'll have only 1 full year as an actual brother, thats definitely not legit.

The frats w/o enough ppl are the ones that take juniors so not sure if u want to do that or not...plus u would only be a brother for a year.

There is a new transfer frat tho so I kno they'll b looking for members
