<p>I know that for a lot of the top schools (ivies), even the best students can't consider them a "match." UCB is on part with those schools in a lot of departments, so can it be considered a safety or a match? Is UCB's admission process much more objective and thus less random?</p>
<p>How anyone can call a college that rejects ~50% of their instate students and ~80% of out staters a safety is beyond me.</p>
<p>You may have the stats in my opinion, a “safety” is almost a sure shot. </p>
<p>But it’s up to you to plan accordingly. You’re the ultimate beneficiary of your actions.</p>
