Can we go over 1000 words on personal statement?

I am just wondering can we go over 1000 words? and what is the strong personal statement ?

They still allow to submit the personal statement over 1000 words. I just wonder if it is actually a good idea or not.

It seems like UW does not take the statement seriously. As I do know some of friends finish their statement in one day or two.

The personal statement is a big deal.
