U-dub personal statement confusion!

It says the "recomended length= 250 words", so does it have to be 250 MAX or at least?

‘about’ 250 words. Basically, they don’t want a 700 word essay, but they don’t want a 50 word statement either. I think mine was about 175 words, and I got in two weeks after I applied.

Be succinct if you can and don’t try to fill up 250 words just because it said ‘recommended length = 250 words’.

Ok, thanks for clarifying that. I counted mine and it is 222 words so i think that’s pretty good.

I think that’s a good count. As long as you convey your thoughts and project yourself, you should be okay :)

Personal statement= 500-650 words
Short response= 250-500 words

Is it bad that i have only 222 words for my short response? My personal statement is 501 words so that’s good. I just don’t really know what else to add to get it beyond 250 words…

I think UW would rather have a short response that’s 222 words and has really good writing than a short response that’s 500 words that is bad.

Quality> quantity.

Maybe to be super safe, add a little more, but I think you’re fine.
