Can we pack out a lunch in the dc?

Are we allowed to pack out a lunch at breakfast? Like if we have classes back-to-back while lunch is served?

And do all the dining halls serve the same food/have the same genres? I’ve only ever been in Tercero.

sort of related question: do teachers let you eat/drink in class?

cutieflutie08: You can't bring food out of the DC. They allow like one fruit.

dmission: Some teachers let you eat in the lecture halls. Especially if it's one of the classes that are super long. But food isn't allowed in lab.

Sorry to keep posting in this thread.
kwidine: What about discussion? Do they tell you all this the first day?

You can swipe out a pre-made sack lunch (sandwich, drink, fruit, and cookies) at the DC, but you can't go to the buffet and fill your bag with food.

ahh yes, ty entadus! i thot they mentioned sumthing about that :D

you get a sandwich (or similarly sized entree), drink, chips, and cookie

dmission: discussions are usually small groups of 20 or less people, and in my experience whipping out a sandwich and eating in the middle of discussion is looked down upon.

if you have a really big jacket you can sneak out whatever the **** you want.

i know people who took out multiple loaves of bread.

if you want to take food out you will find a way.

Yeah, just don't be obvious when you're sneaking out food. There are cameras in the DC as well, but I know people who have easily snuck out full bottles of whipped cream and coffee creamer.

You also get a mug near the beginning of the year where you can bring it into the DC and fill it with any drink. This mug becomes the perfect utility to steal fries, burgers, etc. =)

You can totally eat in class! Generally any class that does NOT allow food will make it a very strong point on the first day, will be posted on the door, or on the syllabus, etc. (such as labs - for safety of course... and any class in a computer lab). From my experience, TA's don't care about food in discussion as long as you're still paying attention.

If a class is over lunch time, many people will have food that they are snaking on during the lecture. Teachers generally don't mind as long as you're not making a scene or a lot of noise - just have your notebook out writing stuff down and occasionally taking a bite. It's a lot ruder if you don't take your notebook out, spread food all over your desk and use both hands to just chow down a big sloppy sandwich
