I know you can appeal an admissions decision at other schools but can you at HC? anyone heard of someone else doing that?

All of our decisions are final, with no appeal process available. We understand the letter you receive may not be the one you were hoping for, but each decision was made with careful consideration by our entire staff of 13 admissions officers. Once again, we had an extremely competitive class and could only accept 33 percent of applicants.

Please note, for wait list decisions only, that a student must reply and accept his/her offer to join the waitlist. We encourage students or parents to call our office with any questions or concerns.

I am just wondering if you would be able to provide any information as to how many students were selected for the waitlist and a rough idea as to how many are fortunate enough to come off the list.(previous years)
Any insight you would be able to provide would be an immense help.
Thank you,

There is great detail on waiting list history, as well as other admissions info, in each college’s Common Data Set. The Holy Cross info is available at this site:

See page 7 for last year. 440 took spots on the waitlist, but none were accepted. Results were more encouraging the previous year, when 19 came off the wait list. It’s a function of how accurately admissions can project the yield from initial acceptances. If your child is really interested, follow the HC instructions on keeping in touch, and keep your fingers crossed. Good luck.

I read somewhere that there was a record 7300+ applicants this year at HC so a particularly competitive year for admissions.
