Is this possible?

Dear katrinarose,

Thank you for your interest in the City College of New York

To answer your question, you can apply to both Macaulay@City & Sophie Davis; however, if you are selected by both then you must choose one.

If you choose Macaulay, then you can still go through our Pre-Med program (which has an excellent track record), and study tuition free for four years, as well as receive all of the other Macaulay perks. However, when it comes time to go to medical school you will have to take the MCAT exam and apply to medical school with no guarantee of admission. Also, you will have to pay the medical school tuition for four years.

If you choose Sophie Davis, you are on an accelerated track to becoming a doctor, you do not have to take the MCAT exam, you are guaranteed admission to one of the five partner medical schools (as long as you have completed all of the requirements), and you will save a great deal on the first two years of medical school tuition because that will be done at CCNY (the preclinical coursework). The downside is that tuition will not be covered like Macaulay. However, our tuition is only about $5,000/year and there is the possibility of receiving either a merit and/or need based scholarship from us. Also, if you qualify for government financial aid, then that, along with any possible scholarships (though not guaranteed), can help defray the final cost.

I hope this information helps.

Thank you, this helped alot with my decision. Planning to apply to Sophie Davis program.

Hello,

I am a HS student interested in applying to Sophie Davis. I am also applying to the Macaulay Honors and i know that in order to be considered for Sophie Davis you must first be accepted to City College. I have read online that I could apply to both program however if i am accepted i must choose one. I am currently filling out my Mccaulay Application, do i select City College and put Biomedical Engineering 0124 as the curriculum? Or do i have to fill out something else, how would this work?

If you are put biomedical engineering , then you are applying to the engineering school at city college.

Can you take classes in the Sophie Davis school of biomedical education if you are a BME student in Macaulay, even if you are not strictly in Sophie?
