Sorry if I’m doing this wrong–I’m new here. I currently study Computer Science (sophomore) at a private college in Vermont, but it’s fucking freezing here so I want to transfer (either fall or spring semester).
My college stats:
Major: Computer Science
GPA: 3.9
Awards/Accomplishments: President’s list, Dean’s list, two merit scholarships
Misc: -work at a programming tutor through academic services
-founding officer of school’s official ACM chapter
-took a gap year before college, moved out/worked for a year, have worked customer service jobs while going to school, was a manager at one
My high school stats:
GPA: 3.3
SAT 630 math, 790 writing, 680 reading (2100 composite)
Awards: Top Girl Scout Cookie seller in region, Prize for Work Ethic
ECs: Student Body President, worked part-time on a local farm 4 years, girl scouts until I aged out, concert choir 4 years, whitewater canoe team 4 years, theater 4 years, a cappella group, volunteered at Zen Peacemakers soup kitchen, volunteer led a children’s outdoor adventure group, and volunteered at watershed education center
Misc: My high school was a New England prep school, idk if it matters. Also GPA (and SAT) was crappy because I was dealing with a debilitating health problem at the time (specifically sophomore/junior year).
Other hooks:
-Mexican
-Woman studying CS
I am applying to Stanford as a transfer for fall although I am aware that their transfer rate is very low. Everywhere else is spring.
So my schools are:
Stanford
USC
CMU
Caltech
UCB
Also realistically my top choice is UCB but since they don’t allow spring semester applications, I couldn’t go for an extra year. Would it be worth it to go to a California CC for a year and then transfer?
