it depends on what subjects, I think. If they're closely related, then yes definitely. (like for economics and political science)

But if they're not (like biochemistry and music), then it'll be really difficult to satisfy all the required credits, unless you do summer school or something

Thanks. Is it possible to create your own major? (For example, I want to create an ethnic studies major, which would combine classes in literature, history and Yale's ethnicity, race and migration major.)

Yes you can double major and create your own major. I'm doing Geology and English, and while it's a real struggle to combine both (I had to start planning from the first term) + it doesn't leave much room for flexibility, nevertheless, I always knew these were the subjects that I wanted to do... I had no regrets.

There are no minors though :(

Really? Lucky for me that I didn't bring up that I wanted to minor in French!

Yea I had asked an admissions officer at a college fair "how easy is it to minor?" and she said "We don't have minors" and I felt dumb :o

What about a double major in drama and writing?

Some students double major, but it works best when the majors are close in their requirements. One problem that comes up is that because there are so many great course to take at Yale, 2 majors are very limiting, as you have to complete requirements for each major as well as complete your distributional requirements, and that doesn't leave a lot of space in your schedule to take interesting courses that don't fit into those catagories. It can be done, but you do give up some freedom and exploration to do it. I'd suggest that anyone applying to Yale take a good look at the course catalog.

Geology and English... now that's a double-major combination I can honestly say I've never heard before. Jolly good show, upandover.

I've heard of a lot of people double majoring in econ and polisci, but at Yale they have the Ethics, Politics and Economics major, which seems really good. sigh
