Can you double major between colleges?

I think the question is pretty self explanatory but I will try to explain what I am asking.

For example, could I major in Biomedical Engineering at the school of Engineering and major in Politics at the college of Arts and Sciences?

Yes, but that sort of double would be very hard w/o some AP credit and summer classes. Just depends how much workload you want really =/ .

Definitely not worth it re:your social life. Double major within a school is doable.

More doable with certain majors than others. My son is graduating this year from McIntire with second major in Econ. He has an active social life and a 3.8 GPA.

The majors were just kind of an example off the top of my head. I just wanted to ask if it was possible to double major between schools.

Yes it is possible to double major between schools at UVA. The most common example of this is students who attend the comm school and also pursue a major in the college, such as economics major to go along with the comm degree. Doing something like this from the e school is probably not as attainable, but if you have enough ap credits and are willing to do a lot of credits each semester, it might be possible.

In short, yes.
In long, it really depends on what majors, what schools, and you. I knew a few e-schoolers who got double majors in ChemE/BioE, Aero/MechE, SysE/Computer Science, and EE/CompE. I also knew one with a SysE and a McIntire degree, and another with a SysE and a biology major (he wanted to become a dentist…). The engineering double majors are relatively decent in work, just takes a bit of planning. The SEAS/other-school ones, both of them had a very limited social and were extremely smart and driven to begin with (they were brilliant, in fact).
As for the College/McIntire, I knew plenty of double majors within the College and knew a few with a College/McIntire double major. Again, takes planning, but very doable.

Overall, my best suggestion is to make it well known from Day 1 that you’re planning to double major, square down which majors you want, and go after them. You really don’t have two years to decide. You may also want to look into summer school or Jterm to help offset some semester loads
