My son would like to double major and was accepted to one school for the first major but waitlisted at the school for his other major. SO is it still possible to double major? Can you switch schools once there are CMU? I am just wondering how many students decide after the first year or two they want to major in something else in another CMU school and how easily you can switch majors/schools. Thanks!

I don’t know the answer, but I have the same question.

In short, yes.

There are almost no restrictions at all whatsoever for double majoring. That means if you in hnss and want to double major in cs and philosophy, you don’t have to apply for anything, you can just start taking classes right away for both majors.

The ONLY advantage to being accepted by the other department/transfering is that you have more priority for getting into classes. But honesty its fairly easy to get into whatever lecture classes that you want.

There is one exception though to this rule, there are a few special programs that required some sort of application proccess, one that comes to mind is the arts and cs degree (forgot what its called). But for general majors, this is not a problem.
