Hey guys,

I have a friend that would like to attend the University of Oregon's School of Architecture. The only problem is that she does not quite meet the requirements of the program. She easily meets the requirements for the normal UO, but the not the SoA.

She really loves architecture and is what she has wanted to do her whole life. The only reason she does not quite meet the requirements is because English is her second language and she moved to the US, as a permanent resident, 2 years ago.

Here's my question. Let's say she gets into UO, but not the School of Architecture. Can she attend the UO as something like undeclared (or pick a temp. major), try to reapply as a sophomore (in college), demonstrate her academic ability and passion for architecture, and be admitted?

Is this common? If so, how far would she be behind Architecture majors that entered as freshman?

What type of classes would an Architecture major take as a freshman that would be DIFFERENT than the gen. ed. classes that everyone takes?**

Thanks and advice and suggestions are welcome!!
