Lol that would be convenient for me :p
Also, when do most people start Siemens?

Yes you can. I was a Siemens semifinalist and still entered LISEF and NYSSEF (two different regional ISEF competitions).

I was a weird exception, I started my project in the middle of the summer but most people start in the beginning. My two partners started before me. I didn’t know I was doing it until my mentor decided to let me come even though I would be gone for 3 weeks at a precollege thing toward the end of the 2nd week of the precollege program. I would suggest starting ASAP. If we had gotten to purify and crystallize our protein, we may have even been RFs.

I’ve already started planning my project for next year.

May I ask, how do you think up your ideas? All of these projects are so amazing and complicated that I find it hard to believe a high schooler thought it up themselves…I have an idea in mind but it doesn’t sound nearly as complicated as any of the siemens projects, which all seem to have something to do with cancer-cures.
How do you contact a mentor? Do you have your idea and just use the mentor’s equipment? Or do you just tag onto a mentor’s project? This whole mentor thing is very confusing…
