if you get into one ivy, it's highly likely that you have the qualifications to get into several others. However, considering the stiff competition, nothing is a guarantee.

i think it's such a longshot for just about anyone, that if you know you want to go to a top-tier college, then you might was well apply to a few so you have a better shot

Ok... I'm going to find this guy. Hold on....

This took me 5 min to find.. which was less time than I expected, but I'm glad I found it.

Lo and behold:

You can check the SCEA acceptance threads from last year and he talks about what he wrote his essays on and stuff. Apparently he applied to a bunch of places for aid and what not...

WOW. Are you sure that guy is who you say?

D was admitted to HYPBCD. Most of us want to compare FA. Harvard '09 by the way.

epsilon - I like that virgin islands one. :D

I'm pretty sure a kid from my school (that got an 1870 superscored SAT) got into both Yale and Harvard last year.

Three people from my high school got into both last year- there isn't some conspiracy between the schools to prevent it.

And I've met plenty of people at Harvard that had to decide between Harvard and Yale.

What has impressed me is meeting people who only applied to *one *college, usually H Y or P. *That's *confidence.

oh wow, for some reason i always thought that Harvard and Yale "talked" amongst themselves and agreed to give up one student if the other college would admit that kid....guess not. haha

For the kids who applied to one place, they probably applied EA, got in, and didn't have to do any more apps.

Directorscut, which school did the kid choose?

Yes, but the fact that all Ivies have extremely high yields shows that very few people got into multiple ones.

get into multiple ones

"oh wow, for some reason i always thought that Harvard and Yale "talked" amongst themselves and agreed to give up one student if the other college would admit that kid....guess not. haha"

Lol, and who would decide who gets who?

I got in EA to Yale and have been called for an interview from Harvard which I have to take as a good sign, haven't made up my mind yet which I would choose given the choice as there are a few others that are still at the top of my list, but I know at least 4 kids that got into both and 1 who got into every single ivy he applied to!! I don't agree with someone saying its excessive to apply to all 8 because unless you are really certain about where you want to go, then its best to have as many options as possible hence the word of advice from my advisor. In answer to your question, YES you can get into both!!

grotongirlie- everyone gets called for an interview for Harvard (if they're able to set one up in your area), so it doesn't signify anything one way or another.

That said, congrats and good luck.

Actually admiral NO that is not true at all! They apparently decide FIRST whether a applicant is worthy of the interview and then they are called upon. I know several kids last year who never got called and did not get in. So I believe you are mistaken, best of luck to you too!

grotongirlie--are you serious? does anyone else know anything about this? haha i just had my interview today and i submitted jan. 1st...so that possibly could be a good sign?

ive never heard of that before tho.
