I am an econ major and a business minor. I am not a business major simply because my situation does not allow it. So my question is can i get into business school with an econ degree? What additional classes would i need to take? Im pretty lost at the moment so if someone could give me a run down it would be much appreciated.

Not only you can get into a top B-school with an economics major, but also you should know that it is the best thing to major if you are set on business school.

Well, I don’t know if economics is the best major for business school. Economics, frankly - and perhaps surprisingly to some - actually has very little to do with business administration, which seems to be far more informed by psychology or sociology. After all, who really cares if you know how to calculate market equilibria points if you don’t know how to manage and lead employees?

But certainly I agree that economics is a common background for many MBA students.

yea im hoping to go into b-school straight from undergrad with double major in econ and poli sci

How does a finance major fair?

Econ, Engineering, and Finance are all great majors to get into business school. Keep in mind that most MBA programs require a few years (3-5) of work experience. However, many schools are starting to create specialized masters programs (Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and HR) that are one year that want students straight out of undergrad.

Yeah but they cannot compare with the prestige and flexibility of an MBA degree.
