Ok, dumb question, but do you have to major in Econ or Business to get your MBA? Or does it depend on the school?

I'm thinking of majoring in PoliSci or International Relations, but may try to double major and pick up business but it may not work out.

Thanks

It does not matter what you major in -- in that you can get into an MBA program from virtually any undergraduate major (my daughter has a BFA in industrial design, and one of her classmates has a BFA in film studies -- and they're enrolled in one of the best MBA programs).

BUT it's not so much your undergraduate major that matters. Rather it's your work experience, your career trajectory, and the "story" you can convincingly tell about why you want an MBA (and why at the particular school) and why you are ready for it.

In any case, you do NOT have to major in econ or business to qualify for an MBA. But if you're thinking about business now, you would be wise at least to take some econ and stats courses, get some international experience under your belt, and focus on post-baccalaureate jobs that would strengthen your credentials for MBA study.
