Can you get rejected from prep schools? ( Hopkins, CHoate, Andover etc.)

Im also wondering what is the difference between waitlist and rejection

Rejection from a school means that the admissions staff read your application and for whatever reason (bad essays, grades, not ready for BS in their opinion)have decided not to grant you access into their school.
Waitlist means that admisssions reviewed your application, think you would do well at the school, but could bot grant you a spot on the class because there weren’t enough spots or something along those lines.
And yes, you can most definitely be rejected from prep schools. And yes, you can be placed on the waitlist. But the schools do not always turn to their waitlists in order to fill up their class. Have you seen some of the acceptance rates for these schools??

Waitlist is being put on a list, and if a student that got accepted chooses not to go, then the person next in line gets the spot! Rejection is when you don’t get in, period.

Hoped I helped!

It is VERY possible to get rejected and wait listed from boarding school. When you are rejected from boarding school, it simply means that they weren’t interested in what you have to offer (please don’t ever take it personally). Wait listed means that they liked you and you were a really good candidate, but there just wasn’t enough slots open to accept you. Here’s the thing, they still want you to come to the school, so they fell you that if a certain amount of accepted students decide not to attend, then they may offer you a opening at their school. For many of the top schools, taking people of the wait list is minimal and usually there are a lot of people on the wait list.
