Can you please spend 3 minutes of your life to chance me?

Hey.

My GPAs, are horribly low, yet have risen last year.

Freshman: app. 3.2
Sophomore: app. 2.9
Junior: app. 3.5
Senior: ???

I haven't received my transcript yet, so the gpa can fluctuate :(

However, my grades in Junior classes are followings:

English 11 ---> B+
Adv. Algebra/Trig ---> A-
Computer Sci (honors) ---> A
Stock MK. Econ (honors) ---> B
US History 2 (honors) ---> B+
Physics ---> A

My test scores are:

1st SAT1 --> 480R, 530W, 610M ---> Total. 1620
2nd SAT1 --> 620R, 620W, 690M ---> Total. 1940
3rd SAT1 --> Planning to take in October or November

SAT2s: Physics, Math, Language--> Planning to take in October or November

ECs: Over 200hours of volunteering (I performed in an ensemble that performs at nursing homes for elderies), and some other minor activities

I would be taking few AP classes in senior year, and continue to get decent grades.

Anyway, in November, after taking SAT2s in October, I'm planning to apply ED at CMU or EA at UMich with my shabby stats.

Also, in December after my SATs and SAT2s, I'm planning to apply RD at:
Rutgers NB, Purdue, CMU or UMich depending on circumstances, NYU, Georgia Tech, UIUC.

Thanks for reading it and would you please chance me ??

You seem to be in an ok position. I don’t know a whole ton of specifics for the schools you listed but I don’t think you are too cometitive for either NYU or Rutgers, but I think you have a decent shot at some of the others. Obviously try to pull up whatever you can and make sure you have great recommendations and essays. Good luck. . .will you try to chance me, Im new to this site and dont know how to add links, but here’s the page http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/738997-chances-wharton-upenn-will-chance-people-back-if-requested.html

I really don’t know how to chance you, but you raised your SAT scores like a lot. How did you raise CR from 480 to 620? and writing from 530 to 620 also?? Do you hany any tips?

My CR went only from 490 to 550, while my writing from 550 to 600, which are very dissappointing.

Well thanks for the chance longstreet :slight_smile: Can others please chance me as well…

Anyway, since English is not my first language and studied everything on my own (no prep courses), I had pretty hard time raising my score, although my score is still inferior to others’ btw. :frowning:
My advice is, just solve as many problems as you can. SAT is all about how much you have practiced and studied. Make sure to understand why you got the problem wrong, and review it untill you fully understand it.
This was just how I studied :)

You don’t state a major or your state of residence, both will have an impact on your chances. But here’s my best guess:

Rutgers NB - In
CMU - Big Reach
Michigan - Reach, if OOS - Very Big Reach, if Engineering - No
Purdue - Reach/Match, If OOS - Reach
GT - Big Reach
NYU - Big Reach
UIUC - Reach, OOS - Big Reach

Your SATs, even super-scored, are at or below the 25th%-tile of all your schools except Rutgers NB & Purdue. Living in Indiana would help your chances at Purdue.

You don’t say you want engineering, but the schools on your list imply that; engineering schools are some of the toughest to get into. You should consider expanding your list to add some more safety schools.

Good Luck.

Rutgers NB - in.
Purdue- probably in, but not definitely.
CMU- huge reach.
UMich- reach
NYU-huge reach.
Georgia Tech - in.
UIUC- eh, maybe you’re in.

chance me.
