Hi, I was wondering if, after your admissions decision has been made and everything is said and done, you are allowed to read your teachers' recommendations even if you waived the right to. Is it dependant on the teacher?

The teacher can show them to you BEFORE the recommendations are sent in, if that is the teacher's choice. The waiver just means you can't ask to see them out of the college's files.

If it does not depend on the teacher- then who? Permission from the college? You're not being watched 24/7. Yet. However, you can read the recommendations legally and without having to ask your teachers at the school you finally matriculate at.

when you waived the right to see them, that is permanent. You can't go to the office at your HS and ask to read them, you can't go to any office at your college and ask to read them. However if the teacher chooses to show them to you, which is sometimes the case, then you'll be able to read them.

The only way you can read waived teachers recs is if the teacher shows them to you.
