Your chances are extremely good. Better than an 80 percent chance. Applying ED to CALS is the way to go.

Make certain your essays strongly identify your interest in non pre-med biology.

cornell does not care about the writing section of the sat, which will hurt definetely.

i'd definetely retake the sat I to get those math and cr's up.

your chances are definetely not 80 percent, but they're decent I guess.

only urm legacies with 2400's have an 80 percent chance of acceptance

Cool!!!!

I emphasized my experience at N.J. Gov. School on the Environment doing marine research and my extreme interest in Cornell's Shoals Marine Lab. in my essays. I am hoping that the fact that I am NOT pre-med. will help me.

You're exactly the top of student CALS loves. You have a 1370 SAT and two 770+ SAT IIs and a very solid academic record. All those APs are basically worth another 150 SAT points.

I think you have a very, very good shot ED.

Cornell does care about the writing portion of the SAT. Notice that Cornell requires SAT Reasoning OR ACT WITH WRITING.

^^Unless the policy has changed since the spring...CALS does not use the SAT writing score in their review of an applicant. I don't know why the require the ACT with writing.

That information comes from CALS adcom members.

exceptional chances, you seem CALSY

bump bump bump

Anyone else want to weigh in? Please?

I agree with all that has been said. Solid EC's with an excellent academic foundation.

Please chance me back:

Cornell has a pretty good marine biology program.

Shoals Marine Laboratory

It's probably a good idea to elaborate on your interests in marine biology in one of your essays. I think you have a good shot.

bijou3owl, At Cornell you would not be concentrating in Marine Biology - you'd be majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration (like Ecology and Evolutionary Biology) and then specializing in Marine Biology. With lots of chances to work and study at Shoals!
