Could anyone give me some information about PNP major at Wash U? I'm going to be in the college of arts and sciences and do pre-med. I was thinking of doing something like biochemistry or something related to biology, but now I'm considering PNP. Is it common for pre-med students to do PNP? Is it harder and more work than just a typical pre-med major like biochemistry or easier and less work? Would you recommend this for a pre-med?
p.s. do we choose majors after the second year? so, for example, if i did either biology major or PNP major, I would officially start after my second year?
Thanks!

I think if you want to be pre-med, you should pursue what you like most and not worry about which is easier. Pre-meds can be any major because everyone only has to satisfy the pre-reqs. It’s not like majoring in biochemistry will automatically help you on the MCAT, nor will it look more appealing to med schools.

You declare a major during your second year at WashU, generally. There’s not really a point at which you officially “start” your major though - you will have been taking courses all along, and there’s no official time at which biology majors break away from biochemistry majors, etc, you just need to eventually end up with all of your requirements fulfilled as far as I know.
