Not to steal your stuff? Have any of you had a roommate who stole stuff?
Should I buy a safe?

lock everything up! your roommate could be the next Adam Wheeler lol.

in all seriousness, the people I stayed with on preview days left their roomkey right above their door, so your stuff is probably pretty safe. If you have jewelry or something like that, maybe then you might want a safe. I’m bringing a laptop lock…

haha, people wont steal your stuff. i left my door unlocked most of the time this past year…

One of the great things about Princeton is the trust within the community and how safe it is. I’m not saying that you should be stupid about things, but lots of times you can leave your laptop in a public place (the student center, library, etc) and leave and not worry about a thing. And many, many people leave their doors unlocked and are fine. People on the ground floor of buildings should be careful, but for the most part, no one will steal anything.

trust nobody.

People I stayed with kept a spare key right above their door. They’ve never had any problems.

I go around stealing people’s things from unlocked doors.

So please, leave all of your valuables accessible.

Thank you!

My dorm room was unlocked for 3/4 of the school year and nothing was stolen. I wouldn’t recommend this strategy (although it was very convenient) but you can trust your roommate.
