Can you work and be in a fraternity?

I really want to join a fraternity in college but I will need to work. Is it possible to be in a fraternity, work like 20 hrs a week, and make good grades?

Yes, it’s possible but it depends what sort of role you have in the fraternity and whether you will be involved in other extracurricular activities. Also it may be counter-intuitive to work and be in a fraternity because if the goal of working is for extra income, fraternities take up a good chunk of cash

Two of my housemates are in a sorority and they work, so the same can apply to those in fraternities, too.

If you were in a fraternity, it seems like you could get yourself paid to be Social Director and you wouldn’t have to take outside work.

yes, of course it’s possible. That doesn’t necessarily mean you can do it. But people do all sorts of things on top of being in fraternities (D1 athletes, work, scientific research, other ECs, etc)

It is possible, but it depends on your schedule and other responsibilities. For example, based on my position in my organization and my school schedule, finding a job that works is difficult and not working is an easier alternative.

It’s definitely possible. I know many guys in fraternities that work and still manage to get good grades.
