Canada/USA mathcamp

Anyone heard of/gone to this thing? I'm applying, but it's a bit expensive, and I'm wondering if my money will be well-spent. Looks alright. John Conway will be there, so it shouldn't be terrible. Wonder if he can write me a recom...

I had the same question. It seems to be a great experience to practically all who went, and I'm planning on going this year. They have math courses you probably won't find anywhere else and of course professors like Conway. I got interested by looking at the quiz and the different courses they offered there

srry. don't know how that got in there.

Ramsfan, where do you go to high school? And what'd you think of the problems? Certainly not olympiad-level, but a little harder than ARML; some of them got me.

my son has attended for the past 4 years and will be returning this summer for his final year as a camper (he may go back as a counselor). It's a great program, and he has really enjoyed it.

I think a pretty high percentage of the young people who are really into math have heard of MathCamp, and you get to meet them if you go there. College admission officers at MIT have definitely heard of MathCamp, if that is your concern.

I go to high school in Fremont CA. How about you? The problems are kind of like AIME problem level; they aren't that bad after some deep thought but you're right, some are stumpers

I live around Chicago. Yah, I didn't do so hot on my AIMEs this year 7 :(. Definitely messed up on my AMCs.

I went there and loved it!!!
