Canadian International Student GPA vs ECs

As an Canadian international student interested in american universities, I have two questions.

  1. How is are Canadian high school marks converted into GPA?
  2. Is there a major difference between getting a lets say a 95.5 average and a 96 or 97 average? Or at this point, do ECs matter a lot more than the difference of 0.5 or 1.5 percent in ones average? Or since 95s, 96s and 97s are very high averages, do even the smallest difference between those averages make a major difference? This is because the higher your mark, the harder it is to increase your mark.

American college are familiar with Canadian grading and know how to evaluate it. They do not convert it. Assuming you are aiming for top 15 US colleges, you will need everything to be exceptional. What is your ACT?SAT score?.

i haven’t taken them yet.

For number 1, do you know generally how they convert them?
Also, if possible can you please answer number 2?

As I stated, they do not convert to GPA. They will evaluate you compared to other Canadian applicants.

There is no real difference in those marks for top schools nut GPA/marks are only one portion of your evaluation.
