I'm still in high school, but I'm drawn to McGill' s science programs not only because of price, but because it is very close to where I live and it's considered one of the best schools world wide. I am a US student/ citizen right now, and am interested in med school after undergraduate school. However, I've heard that going to a US med school from a Canadian school is extremely hard and chances are that I won't be accepted into med school in the US.

Well, to be honest, even if you attend a US undergrad the odds say you won’t be accepted into med school…
Admission to US medical school is very competitive with only about 40% of applicants gaining an acceptance each year.

Canadian college degrees are acceptable for admission to every US medical school. (Canadian and US colleges are accredited by the same accrediting bodies. Also AMCAS–the application clearinghouse for all US med schools-- will recognize and verify transcripts from Canadian colleges.)

What you need to do to make yourself a competitive applicant for any US med school is to make sure that you have spent time physician shadowing and doing some clinical volunteering in US medical facilities. (Med school applicants need to demonstrate they understand how medical practice works in the US since that is where they will eventually practice.)

I agree with Way… If you have a McGill degree and you are not accepted into a US medical school, it has nothing to do with McGill being in Canada.

Just make sure you get something above 3.7+ GPA with 35+ MCAT.

Canadian medical schools are better value and have very good quality teaching standards. I don’t feel like the US is worth the money.

Edit: Nvm, just read that you are American. No, going to McGill itself will not decrease your chances of getting into uS med schools. However, McGill is very competitive.
