hey guys.

I am just wondering how many Canadian students apply to US univs each year?

and what is the acceptance rate especially in the most prestigious schools?

will the number of applicants in a particular area affect your chance of getting accepted?

eg. in Province A-300 applicants
B- 50 applicants

will the students from B province have a greater chance just because thereare less applicants in their province?(assume they have equal number of residents in each provinces)

I wanna those answers too, but I doubt anyone knows

hi, liangshengtm, where are you from?

Upenn has approximately 30+ spaces for Canada.

only 30?

then how many of us apply to Upenn ?

It's not just what country you are from (your residence), but it also depends on your ethnic background.

well, i am chinese

30 is already alot for Canada alone. We must be thankful about that fact. There were only around less than 100 spaces for the entire Asia.

o................

so do you know how many spaces does Stanford have for us?

I am from Montreal

i HIGHLY DOUBT UPENN ONly has room for 30 canadians.....i know at least like 6 girls on one varsity team who canadian....i bet if u use facebook look for canada related groups ull find tonnes more...id put a solid bet that the numbers at least 100...even tho i would also bet that there is no real number like that existing.....usually universities have like 5-10% internationals i think...obviously canada being so close to US, they also are a big chunk of that

i dont even know why i bother posting on here anymore...i regret this one already

According to the last stats release by the University of Pennsylvania, the Undergraduate Admissions Office chartered its class of 2009 Geographic Distribution as follows: Asia-101 spaces, Canada-34, Europe-51, Alaska-5, Hawaii-15, Africa-41, and etc.

I mean, c'mon, let's speak on basis of solid facts, not inductive reasoning. For this specific case, the University of Pennsylvania had an enrolled freshman class of 1450 for the class of 2009 (and mind you, this number only fluctuates a little throughout the years). If you are speculating that UPenn has room for 100+ Canadians each year, then the CANADIAN population at such major university should be around 7% of the entire freshman class. This is totally absurd since only less than 10% of the freshman class is composed of International students.

Canada just doesn't have that many people, so 34 probably translates into a better percentage than 101 does for Asia.

yeah. 34 for Canada, with a population of 3100 million. 101 for the ENTIRE Asia. Think about it, what's the total population of Asia? China (1.3 billion)+ India (1 Billion)+Japan (200 million) + etc. 101 is NOT enough for Asia. In fact, Canada actually has a pretty good deal.
