So I got 2100 twice during both June and October SAT. Now I'm debating whether or not to cancel my November score and re-take it again in December.

Pros: So far I have about 5 Cr answers that don't match with CC's consensus, or maybe 4, I think this time I have a shot for 700+ even though I only compared roughly 52 Cr quesions (the rest of 15 questions' answers are not in the consolidated thread).

Cons: Some of my schools ask to see all my SAT scores, so taking SAT four times is obviously very stupid. If I don't cancel my score, there is a possiblity that I won't even break 2100 this time.

Taking the SAT four times in not obviously very stupid. If the rest of the application makes you look like a grade and score obsessed student, it might be stupid, as it could reinforce that impression. But if that’s the impression the rest of your application makes you are already in trouble.

I’d recommend canceling this one and DO YOUR BEST to prepare for the December test. Lock yourself in your room on weekends and during Thanksgiving break to study and figure out what trips you on CR. Good luck.

Did you try taking the ACT instead? From my understanding, (and it is limited) it that it is alot easier to improve your scores if they are very low, which yours aren’t. It is alot harder to improve on a 700 score than say a 550.
MY suggestion, although I don’t know what schools you are applying to, would be to either try something different (ACT) or just move on. Your scores as they stand are very respectable. Let the rest of your application speak to your stengths.

What score are you shooting for in CR? Two possibilities-
1.Do what PCP says and really concentrate on CR for one more administration. Or
2.Take your chances with this one if you are satisfied with 700-750. Assuming that the CC consensus answer are correct, and that for the ones you havent compared you keep the same level of performance, you are talking about missing maybe 7 or 8 on the whole test. Remember, on CR you can miss a few and still get 800. If this is anywhere near correct-

and everything else is how you estimate, you would be in the 700-750 range. If you want better than that, you need to take it again and cancel these scores.

I dont know if taking it too many times is that big a deal.

OP: Remember the “law of diminishing returns” and accept the 2100 score at this last moment and spend time on writing a better Essay or providing information in the application that provide insight into things that is not reflected through grades, SAT etc.

A better essay will provide you more benefits than a 50-80 points upscale on your SAT because unless you had 2 bad days on 2 different SAT improving more than 80 point will be difficult.

POIH, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Ad Coms want to see many EC, but don’t particularly want to see “taking the SAT” as one of them. Every hour spent doing nothing but raising scores is an hour that can’t be spent on other worthy endeavors. Isn’t there something better to do with your time?

I also agree with POIH. But this obsession with SAT is reinforced on the “kid’s side” of the site. Sure, it helps to have a high score, but at some point POIH is right, especially at the last minute there are probably better ways to spend the time. You have to think of the opportunity costs when you are filling out the critical applications.
