Cancelling fed aid when leaving schools

So after being set to enroll at a Rhode Island college this fall and completing all enrollment requirements, I have decided to not attend the said school. I have unenrolled from the university. I had accepted the federal loans I was offered when I was still set on going. Do I have to cancel those loans now that I’m no longer going? How do I do that if i need to? Or Does the school take care of the loans for me? I have reached out to them and haven’t heard back. Any advice on what to do is greatly appreciated!

Note: these loans have not been disbursed yet and I am a first time college student with no previous loans. I am also now enrolled in a different university and will accept loans from there too.

It will be easiest for you if you call the school you will not be attending & ask them to cancel your aid. If you withdrew, they won’t disburse the loans … but they will be hanging out there & the school you are going to attend may want them officially canceled before they will disburse loans to you.
