The form says this is optional.

Part 1: Record of activities and honors
Part 2: Personal statement
Part 3: Additional information (Ten questions including blank to fill in family annual gross income).

Did anyone not submit this information and still get in? If you're after merit money because you don't qualify for need-based aid, filling in the gross income doesn't sound like a good idea. Any thoughts?

I know S did #1 and #2. I don't really remember about #3. He would not have known that info and would have had to ask DH. We did not even fill out a FASFA because we knew we would not qualify for financial aid. S did receive 2 merit scholarships from NCSU. I'm pretty sure the merit money is given out regardless of need. A girl who grad. high sch. with S got NCSU's biggest scholarship (Park) and her family very well off (by S's account).

Thanks for the reply. I'll let my S know. State is his 1st choice now after visiting so hopefully all will work out.

Have they already posted 2008 application?

Gotta wait until end of the month: "August 31 , 2007 U.S. citizens and permanent residents can start their applications for 2008 admission"

I STRONGLY recommend that you fill out ALL optional sections, especially if you are seeking merit money, the University Scholars Program (very cool), the University Honors Program, or simply to increase your chances. Do not let this be the deciding factor when it comes down to two close applicants where one has to be waitlisted. Do it, seriously. I filled them out (had fun doing it) and now I’m a Scholar.

p.s. you do not have to fill out all ten questions for the additional information, just the questions that apply to you
