cant afford it now.

So I
ve been lurking around the CC for a while and this is my first post- hope you can help me out.
I
ve been accepted to UC as an international student. I didnt apply for financial aid at the time, as my parents thought it wasnt necessary. However, after getting the final budgets and total costs of the school, my parents have told me it would be really difficult to afford UC now. It was of course a mistake on our part for not calculating properly what the cost would be- we didnt know or take account the additional and exteneral costs (we basically underestimated it)

I really want to go to UC. I am currently looking for funding and other scholarships, but as an international student, it seems really difficult. Do you think it is too late to ask the financial office at UC to give me some sort of aid? Is it basically out of the question? I know that UC considers international students who apply for aid and dont apply for aid differently, as in it factors into the final admissions decision. So would it be ridiculous to ask for aid now?

It wouldn't hurt to call and ask.

^agreed, i think the risk of your admission being rescinded probably doesn't matter because without any financial help, you won't be able to go anyways right?

I seriously doubt they would rescind your admission for simply asking about some scholarship/aid opportunities that may be available for you.

the worst they can say is no!
