Do you think Partial and Ordinary Diffy Qs, Elementary Linear Algebra, and General Physics III (intro to modern physics, the atom, etc.) all in one quarter is too much? I've been told that linear algebra is an easy class, and that if you can Ace your calc classes then diffy q's ought to be similarly easy. What do you peeps think?

Doesn’t seem that bad. When I was an undergrad EE 15 ya, I took these three courses together in a semester along with a course in digital circuits. But my DiffyQ course only did ODEs not PDEs. It seems strange that you cover PDEs so early.

Some schools bundle ODE and PDE together. I took both separately and PDE was a looot harder

You’re at CSCC right? If you decide to take Diff Eq, Take it with Gary Gutman

Yeah, I remember that my Diff Eq course was almost all ODE…with about 3 pages at the end of the semester lightly mentioning PDE’s.

Not bad… our curriculum is even worst lol… linear and vectors calculus in one course…
I don’t know if my school separates them
here is the differential

I am going to take this course next semester, and I will see…

anyone knows what this business is about? Partial Differential Equations I
[Department of Mathematics, CCNY — Courses](Math 43500: Partial Differential Equations I)

^It seems like a good class. My PDE mainly dealt with Wave eq, Heat eq, and Lablace eq. throughout the whole semester. It’s interesting that at CCNY Partial Differential Equations II is listed as a graduate course lol

Only one diffy q session for winter quarter, and it hasn’t been assigned faculty yet. I haven’t had Gutman yet but if I get Yang again I’ll be very happy. He was the best teacher I’ve ever had in any subject. The only teacher I’ve ever had where I actually paid attention to every lecture, instead of mainly teaching myself from the book.

(Oh God… Is it about finding/talking to girls? reluctantly clicks on thread…)

Oh, okay. Linear algebra wasn’t bad. I found diff/eq to be incredibly painful, but it was mainly because it was an 8AM class and I had a terrible prof. Never took Phys III; steel and concrete rarely misbehave at a subatomic level.

Ask around about the profs before you lock in.
