i'm taking my SAT for the second time this november, and this is my last chance.
I've not read a lot of literature, so i;m not good at quoting for books
But amidst all the confusion, chaos, and panic in 25 minutes, i can't think of any examples to support my essay (opinion).
In my last sat i couldn't think of anything either, i just wrote 3 personal anecdotes as examples, that too i made up. I ended up with a 7.
does anyone have any bright ideas or suggestions?

Well I made up a personal example. If you cant come up with anything use your imagination to make up one :)

i have the same problem.. does any one know a site or something which has examples because most examples can go with almost each essay.

What do the scorers think of, "I read somewhere that..."?

JB : It depends upon the validity of the example. If its a concrete one go ahead use it.

zainuu: You cannot possibly learn 1000000000 of examples. Its spontaneous mate. You should have read books and newspapers in high school.

As I have said before try making up examples.

scorers have said to value exmples from literature and history over personal examples.

I usually use the same few examples for every essay
The books I read in AP/honors english have really helped me a lot (ex. the scarlet letter, a tale of two cities, lord of the flies etc)
think about historical events, they can support pretty much everything
ex. holocaust, civil war, American revolution

i hope this helped =)

I think I'll use historical events. They're easier to apply than an example from literature, and I don't really think I can count on my literary bank too much. I tried it on a practice essay and it just really sounded stupid.

im really bad with remembering names of characters in literature. It's not very wise to use an example from liturature, if i can't remember names, right?

you arent penalized for incorrect information.
