Hi everybody

I'm a current freshman at Grand Valley State University in Michigan who is very unhappy with his current major. I want to switch to Elementary Education, and since The University of Michigan recently rejected me, I have three options for what to do.

Stay at GVSU and change my major to Social Studies, then eventually apply to the College of Education and get my teacher certification.

Go to The University of Michigan Dearborn and major in Elementary Ed.

Go to Eastern Michigan University and major in Elementary Ed.

No matter what I end up doing next year I intend on re-applying for Michigan every semester, as I live in Ann Arbor and have always wanted to go there.

What do you think of my options? Despite talking with an advisor about the ed. program here at GVSU, I'm still pretty unsure about it (you know, the usual "Our program is great! Do it no matter what!" kind of crap). UM Dearborn and Eastern (especially Eastern) would be much more convenient living-wise, as I could just commute from home and find steady work in Ann Arbor while going to school. On the other hand, I somehow feel like GVSU has a leg up on the other schools in terms of its credentials and academics.

Thanks for all of your input!
