I'm trying to schedule an off campus admission interview to USC. I didn't have a USCID yet, so I followed the instructions to call admission office. They set me up with the number and told me to wait 24 hours. I waited and it's been 36 hours now and the ID they gave me did not work! I don't want to call back because the man on the phone was really rude and obnoxious. What do I do? Time is running out to schedule one because so many people are filling up spaces! Thanks.

Wait until Monday, call back and you may get a different person. But also, be polite and appreciative. If he was rude, he may have been stressed from the gazillion other students calling with the same question. The school gets tens of thousands of applications and has to generate a unique ID for each one. But I know from experience with a different college that Admissions and I/T also get a lot of calls from prospective students and parents who “demand” things. So tone and approach is everything.

Also, it’s the weekend so there is likely a skeleton crew. 24 hours may be in terms of business days.

Call tomorrow late morning (California time) if the ID still doesn’t work. I suspect it just hasn’t had time to work through the system.

The chances of you getting the same man (most likely a student employee anyway) are very slight. Don’t be afraid to call again. That’s what they’re there for!
