I took my SAT in November and scored an 1830 (horrible, I know) and since then have been trying to improve my scores but everything I do doesn’t seem to work.
Since November I have taken at least 5 practice tests and looked over/scored them with minimal improvement. I have also attended multiple sessions with tutors and I don’t know what it is, but my scores just won’t improve. I am extremely stressed and I just want to hear some opinions on what I should do (ex. Try the new sat or the act, new studying techniques,…)
What grade are u in? If you’re already in this admissions cycle, then isn’t it a bit late now to do anything about it? The last “old” SAT was given last month. All future test dates will offer the “new” revamped SAT.
I am a junior but I live in the northeast, so due to the snow storm my January test was pushed back to the end of February
What section do you have the most trouble with?
If it’s not too late, for math I’d recommend getting the Pwn the SAT math guide. If your grammar is strong, you should just do some more writing sections and look for patterns. Reading is the hardest section to improve on for me at least, but keeping focus was a big part in doing well on the reading sections. These are just the general things I did that worked for me. I could ramble on about SAT prep for a while, but I have no idea what you want to know right now.

I have a spread of W 600, M 620, CR 610
What is your unweighted GPA?
3.87 out of 4.00
3.87 out of 4.00 @TomSrOfBoston
For CR, you surely need more vocab study. You can learn all the relevant vocab between now and the test date if you put in the hours, and doing so will surely pull you up over 650 if not significantly higher.
Why not take the ACTs. Many students who don’t game tests well but who are great students do better on the ACTS.
I second PWN the SAT math guide. My D2 had plateaued and her score jumped 60 points after 4 days with that book. Also Erica Meltzer grammar guide. Work in them both until the test. Worked wonders for my daughter. Good luck!
Thank you for all the help! I started looking over the vocab tonight and I will definitely get the PWN book!
And @lostaccount i am planning on taking the act after this attempt on the sat
