Can't mix and match the multiple SATs??

Oh wow, the below article was a rude awakening for me! I was under the impression that in the scenario I got:

SAT 1
CR - 540 M - **660 **W - 600

SAT 2
CR - **600 **M - 620 W - 580

SAT 3
CR - 580 M - 640 W - 640

Then the scores I could turn in would be:

CR - 600 M - 660 W - 640

So my score would be 1900.

But then I read:

To ensure fairness and to stop students from "gaming the system," the College Board ruled out allowing students to mix and match their math, reasoning and writing scores from the different times they take the test.

IN:

SAT will let students pick which scores to show colleges - Los Angeles Times

It seems like that will only take in to effect when the new rule is allowed though. But for the October test, and for admissions in college this year, I don't see why we still can't do it. :-)

I believe that takes effect next year. thank godd

haha i knowwww!

But lets say u took the SAT 5 times, can't u just show colleges ur top scores from each section by sending them score reports for three test?

College Board will not allow you to send different sections of different tests. However, that does not stop the colleges from considering the scores from different sections of different tests, as they have done when there was no score choice. Nothing really has changed, except for the student who only wants one or two tests considered (or, more likely, wants to send only SAT I, and not SAT II, or vice versa).

Osap, yes, you are correct; you can send only the three tests. However, you may now have to pay for each of the three tests separately, as you do if you want to send more than one sitting of the ACT.

You have never been allowed to choose to send just part of the SAT score. Currently if you decide to send your scores to a college they will the scores from all the SAT tests you have taken (all SAT 1s and all SAT 2 subject tests ). With the new rule you can just choose to send results from 1 test.

For instance if you take the SAT 1 for the 4th time this October and send it to school A they will receive the results of SAT 1, 2, 3, and 4. When the new rule comes into being they will just receive SAT 4. But no you cannot send just the CR from one test and the math from another - you cannot now and will not be able to in the future.

Some schools will look at the best subscore from several tests. But you cannot send it that way.

now they're gnna start doing the mix and match..so maybe hopfully in december =]

A. No they are not going to allow mix and match. They will allow you to send the entire score from, for instance, the March 2009 SAT 1 without automatically sending every previous score from every SAT test you have taken. They will not allow you to send just the CR from March 2009 and just math from Dec 2008.

B. The new reporting choices do not happen until the March 2009 test.

from

New SAT Score-Reporting Policy

[quote]

Students will be able to select which scores they send to colleges by sitting (test date) for the SAT and by individual test for SAT Subject Tests™.

Scores from an entire SAT test will be sent—scores of individual sections from different sittings cannot be selected independently for sending.

but is mix and match is still in effect till december???

No. There is no "still in effect" because it has never been in effect. You cannot currently mix and match the individual sections of the SAT 1 scores you send, you have not been able to do it in the past, you will not be able to do it in the future.

I feel like I am in the twilight zone. Or perhaps this is a spoof thread.

^ well I know its not an official rule or anything...but a lot of colleges CONSIDER your highest scores from each section (superscore)

Yes that is true as I said in post #7. Many colleges do superscore from your SAT 1s but you cannot superscore it yourself by choosing which sub scores to send. Presumably those schools will continue to do so once the new policy comes into affect.

^ ok yeah...so thats good lol

so if i m graduating in 2010, i will be able to exempt my october 2008 SAT score ?
